I meant their child can take a sip of alcohol and that's not illegal, if their parent gives it to them. LOL I'm not sure if I'm clear--what I meant is that it is legal for a parent to give their child a sip or a cup of beer/wine/alcohol, but it IS illegal if the child becomes intoxicated. Well, there is a certain number (can't recall) well percentage of alcohol in their bloodstream, and if it reaches that point then it is illegal. But this is only if the parent gives the child a glass of alcohol. Obviously any % of alcohol--if not given by the parent--in the bloodstream of a child is illegal.
(lol yeahhh. i hope you know I'm not trying to be mean, I'm having fun XD)
OOOHHH So you are saying that they can pour them a drink, and they don't drink it. Sure, yeah that's fine! xDD Of course that's legal, as long as they don't drink it.
No. It is illegal and not okay for a child to drink at all. Yes, I know that it does hurt the liver more then the Brain, you are defiantly right about that. It's not good even for adults, and especially not good for kids. But I agree with you, it is perfectly fine for them to simply pour them a glass and them not drink it, but that seems.... useless or pointless to me.
(It is nice to know other peoples opinions, isn't it? owo)
I said that parents cannot give anyone else OTHER THAN THEIR CHILDREN alcohol. By consuming or possessing, they mean drinking large amounts. Parents are allowed to pour a GLASS of beer for their children, and it's legal.
Alcohol also damages your brain if you are an ALCOHOLIC or drink tons of alcohol or consume a lot in one time. It also depends on who you are and how much alcohol you can stand before you get drunk or dizzy. Also, alcohol probably damages the liver more than the brain anyways. Either way, you have to be a really big alcohol drinker to be damaged at all.
Maybe I am wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the policeman was telling the truth.
(and sorry about this, although I do like the debate/whatever we are having )
Dude. You have false information. Underage drinking is illegal because it damages your brain. Since I believe that is true, it doesn't MATTER if your parents give you it or not. You STILL are damaging your brain. Look at this file:
You said Ohio, correct? It says right there ar the bottom that
"6. Hosting Underage Drinking Parties (from “Parents Who Host Lose the Most” materials): • As a parent, you cannot give alcohol to your teen’s friends under the age of 21, under any circumstance, even in your own home, even with their parent’s permission. • You cannot knowingly allow a person under 21, other than your own child, to remain in your home or on your property while consuming or possessing alcohol."
Underage drinking is illegal if the child/teen is in possession of the alcohol, or was given a glass by a friend or a family member other than their parents. It's legal if their parents give them a glass but don't get them drunk. And no, lol he wasn't. He was my D.A.R.E. officer!
