Funny because this has already happen... I canīt remember the name of the musicians, but there was a "concert of the silence" or something like that... and the thing is that you go, sit, and watch a complete orchestra just there, with their instruments in hand not playing a single thing. A friend (which told me about this) told me that she saw the video and when the concert ended everyone was clapping of excitement, there was even a standing ovation! So yeah...art is full of snoobs in my opinion... Anyway, I love your art! You are amazing!
Just because something is different and not-so-easy to digest, doesn't make the ones who appreciate it snobs necessarily. Yeah, of course among them there are some that haven't got a clue and they really are snobs, but I honestly think that before judging or dismissing something we should at least consider that maybe there's more there, and maybe we just aren't there yet.
Also, the artist directly reffered to that work you're talking about (it's in his comment)
I know that not because something is different and isnīt the "canon" means that is something snoob. In fact, I love different kinds of art and also I like to see new styles of art, ideas, concepts, etc... But I feel that these days, some artists are doing ANYTHING to attract attention: they donīt even care of the art, they donīt have a concept, nothing to show....just nothing. So it happens that they do "this" kind of things and call it art, and because its weird (and we now that this days, everything that is weird in art its considered amazing) everyone loves it.... It can be weird, new, different, whatever you want! But if it has a concept behind or something to show, I would never criticize it, no matter if I like/understand it or not. Well, that is just in my own opinion....^^ī
Great then well, this one really had a concept and I think it's a pretty awesome one. Also, just so you know, it dates from the '50s. And another thing, Cage never meant to call his work anything, he was just a playful, awesome dude (John Cage being the author behind '' 4'33'' '', the ''silent'' musical piece).
Maybe in visual arts or shows people are a bit more tolerant, and some of them authentic snobs, but unfortunatley that is not to be said with contemporary classical music... of which people are super scared
